HP ELITEBOOK 2530p NOTEBOOK PC REVIEW

Keeping your data secure
The HP EliteBook 2530p comes with a variety of features that make it easy to keep your data safe. For instance, with the HP Protect Tools, which you can set up the first time you use your laptop, you will be able to make a full encryption of the hard disk drive. So you don’t have to worry about important data reaching the hands of the new user.

SAMSUNG NC10 SPECIAL EDITION – HAS A SHINY AND LONGER LIFE

Amazon has started taking pre-orders for the new Samsung NC10-11PBK Special Edition. The major attraction is the 5900mAh 6-cell battery. Samsung claims that this higher capacity battery will last for 9.4 hours. Also, the NC10 Special Edition comes in a glossy black color and has a larger touchpad.

The touchpad definitely looks wider than the previous models and has no demarcations for a scrolling section. Hopefully it will have a multitouch function. Though the black color is coveted by many, the glossy finish is a definite fingerprint magnet, not to mention the glare it generates when used outdoors. Well to our utter disappointment, the NC10 Special Edition does not offer a choice of color or finish. So if you are looking for some hard core battery life and have no problem with shiny looks, the Samsung NC10-11PBK Special Edition is available for pre-order at Amazon for $499. And for those who are content with 7 hours of battery life(yes thats what the original model of NC10 offers) and a matte finish, the original NC10 is now available for $445 at Amazon.

ASUS G50V REVIEW

Thumps up Gamers - G50V from ASUS

Asus G50VThe G50V is ASUS most recent laptop toting up to their Republic of Gamers series brand name. It is a high-presentation 15.4-inch laptop based on the Intel Centrino 2 platform. ASUS proffers the G50V in quite a lot of different designs.

Design
The G50V is aspired directly at the gaming multitude. Its design articulates "gamer" no affair what way you gaze at it. There is nothing inconspicuous about the design of this laptop. Lets establish with the flipside of the lid. The most eye-catching fraction about the flipside of the cover is the 4 blue lights. They are not excessively bright, but are effortlessly seen. 2 light bars are positioned at either end of the closure on the exceptionally periphery, which flash in patterns. At the top of the cover is a comprehensible shield with the Republic of Gamers emblem inside. To conclude, towards the underneath there is a horizontal light bar that durations about half of the lid.

Performance
It is a high-performance 15.4-inch laptop based on the Intel Centrino 2 platform. Emphasizes of this transferable powerhouse comprise a top-shelf NVidia Geforce 9700M-GT 512MB, twofold hard drives, and a striking, ostentatious design that says "gamer."

The 15.4-inch WSXGA+ exhibit is completely stunning. It is extremely bright and has elevated distinction. The lustrous finish assists this display convey colors to life. Though the G50Vs 2 speakers transmit the Altec Lansing insignia, their sound quality departs much to be wished. They are tinny, and there is no intimation of bass. They also are comparatively quiet. This segment is a high point for the G50V-A1. One huge fan takes care of the warmth from both the processor and graphics accelerator card, and ejects it out the left side through a great vent. While idling, the laptop is fundamentally muffled. Under full load, the only resonance to be heard is a flash of air - motor clatter is thankfully missing.

The G50V-A1 ended about 2 hours in my battery test in power saving approach while surfing the Internet. Though 2 hours is not a lot, it is sensible for a gaming laptop with a 6-cell battery power pack.

Conclusion
Gamers in the marketplace for a suitably-priced 15.4-inch gaming laptop should critically mull over the ASUS G50V-A1. Its ostentatious design, rock-hard build quality, high recital components, and attractive display make it the perfect mobile gaming escort. ASUSs most recent, Atom-based 900 series EEE PCs may be quickly approaching accessibility, but it seems like the corporation is still doing its finest to get as many plain old Celeron-based EEE PC 900s out the door as feasible, with it now presenting up a $100 rebate on the previously low-priced notebook. That drops the price down to $449, which is definitely a civilized enough bargain when compared to the $599.With the prices dipping low, the onus is on the buyer to reap the fruit, But is the temptation to taste fresh blood holding up a few, definitely it will but, for the ones who feel the new kill is too pricey, this is a rocking show time.

TOSHIBA L350 REVIEW

L350 marches out from the production lines of TOSHIBA

Marketed by Toshiba as a desktop replacement genre for the business sector, the L350 is certainly graciously influential. But that power comes in a huge and chunky wrap up, devoid of much enticement to be utilized as a mobile PC. Like using a filing cabinet as a paper weight, this notebook can positively get the work done, but it eats up much additional room than obligatory.

Design
Meet Toshiba’s L350 laptop computer from their Satellite Pro lineup, a budget computer for today’s business professional. Today’s laptop industry is stacked to the rafters with the newest trendy fashions and designer size notebooks which can fit into a purse or under your seat on a plane. Unfortunately for the L350, it’s big and bulky casing delegates this computer to the desktop and not the backpack.

Performance
Despite its blasé external, the L350 proves that good looks are only crust deep. Under the covering is a cultured 160GB hard drive (well diminutive of the 250gb in the M305 we just reviewed), with a 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and two GB of SDRAM, so that CPA should encompass no predicament running tax software. But devoid of capable FireWire media inputs, it’s never quite convinced what else this workstation is destined to be utilized for beyond business applications and reasonable multimedia playback.

Weighing in at about 9 and a half pounds, 15 inches across and approximately 2 inches thick, this notebook is a creature to drag around. The L350 captures a full-size keyboard with a numeral pad and elevated black, plastic keys. They’re tangible enough and make it trouble-free to keep away from typing errors.

The speakers are ill-fated and are nasty sounding - remote and clanging would be portray the audio, which is a disgrace given the 17” diagonal Tru-Brite Widescreen lustrous flaunt, sprinting natively at 1440x900 declaration. With essential brightness illustration controls on the F6 and F7 keys, movies don’t seem half bad!

The lithium-ion power source however, wasn’t all that imposing for a 17” price sensitive notebook, running for just below 4 hours during standard usage, and 2 and a half with a DVD playing.

Conclusion
At a little over a $1000 acquire price, the Toshiba L350 Satellite Pro may be the notebook for you – if you require a 17” notebook. If its cost your aiming for, the M305 we just reviewed pimps this representation in more or less each and every possible way excluding for screen (yes, inclusive of price).

Pros
+ Influential enough processor
+ Beautiful lustrous widescreen for watching movies

Cons
- Awkward
- No FireWire connectivity
- Awful sound quality
- Not noteworthy battery life

TOSHIBA P505 MULTIMEDIA NOTEBOOK REVIEW

The Toshiba Satellite P505 is a powerful multimedia notebook equipped with ATI Radeon HD 4650 discrete GPU and a gigantic 18.4" display. It offers dual drives for optimal performance and storage.

Toshiba Satellite P505-S8950 Specifications:
Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1)
Display: 18.4 inch 1680 x 945 HD+ TruBrite Display (Glossy)
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 with 1GB GDDR2
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB Cache)
Memory: 6GB DDR2-800 RAM
Storage: 64GB Toshiba SSD + 320GB 7200RPM Hitachi
Retail Price: $1,599

Build and Design
With its 18.4 inch display the P505 looks really gigantic. The machine weighs over 11lbs and isn’t very portable. The glossy black pinstripe finish on the exterior of the notebook lends it a classy look. Build quality is satisfactory, but the weight and width of the notebook does make it susceptible to some flex. The screen hinges also don’t appear really tight, but that is nothing surprising considering the heavy screen.

Each hard drive has its own individual bay. There are easy access panels to both hard drive bays and memory slots. So upgrading components wouldn’t be an issue.

Screen and Speakers
The display panel comes with a resolution of 1680x945. The panel itself is very good: colors are bright and vivid. But the glossy display makes reflections a huge problem when you work in a bright setting. Vertical viewing angles are average but horizontal viewing angles are satisfactory.

The P505 comes with a Harman/kardon sound system. The speaker performance is quite impressive. It is more than adequate for watching a movie or listening to music.

Keyboard and Touchpad
There is a full-size keyboard and keypad. There is also a 1 inch wide touch sensitive multimedia key section on this notebook. The keyboard has an easy-to-follow layout and is very comfortable to type on. The large touchpad is a Synaptics model, but its performance seemed lacking.

Ports and Features

Port selection is good. There are three USB ports, one eSATA/USB combo port, FireWire, VGA-out, LAN, HDMI, SD-Card slot and audio jacks. Other features include slot-Loading DVD SuperMulti, Intel 5100AGN, Bluetooth v2.1 Atheros AR8131 1GB Ethernet and built-in web camera.

Performance
Performance is quite snappy thanks to the Intel P8700processor, ATI Mobility HD 4650 GPU and Toshiba 64GB SSD. Boot times are minimal. Multimedia performance is good. It can easily handle 1080p HD video content. This is not a dedicated gaming notebook, but you can still play most games on this system.

Heat and Noise
The P505 has a large chassis which allows plenty of airflow that keeps the system cool. Noise levels are also within normal limits.

Battery Life
The P505 is equipped with a large 12-cell battery (6-cell option is also available) with a capacity of 100Wh. At around 4.5 hours, the battery life is quite good for a notebook of this size and capacity.

Conclusion
The 18.4 inch Toshiba Satellite P505 is an excellent desktop replacement laptop. It is good at handling most tasks. You can watch HD video and play most modern games. The touchpad performance isn’t very good, but that problem can be solved by using an external mouse.

Pros:
Amazing speaker system
Good battery life
Snappy performance

Cons:
Heavy
Average touchpad

While its distinctive approach may not right away provoke you, wed hope with three color dissimilarities of chrome silver, black or white, plus 4 unlike stands, ours was provided with the floor stand trapeze that youd be capable to find one to ensemble you. One of the most important features of the Connect 37 is its aptitude to stream media over a home association. We did try this originally over our workplace Wi-Fi group and couldnt get it to pick and choose up our Windows Media Player, but business networks are never the most excellent place to try this. When we tried it on the agitated Ethernet network, we were very plagued, the TV found our Windows Media Player in a direct line. Once we accepted the TV permission to entrée our files, we were off.

Adaptation aside, the Loewe actually came into its hold with WMV video. It played flawlessly and at resolutions of up to 1080p, which actually won us over. It was in addition extremely straightforward to observe pictures and acquire MP3s to play, and the complete interface familiarity was a breeze. In normal definition, our picture controlled abundance of detail with precise colors and few deformations. Our only sniggle is that the TV requires thinking about what characteristic ratio itll use. For the 1st few seconds of selecting a channel, the screen jumps about. On a finest set, this is an strange dilemma.

ASUS F6E B1 REVIEW

The Asus F6Ve-B1 is a powerful desktop replacement laptop that delivers quite satisfactory performance at an attractive price.

Configuration
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 CPU running at 2.66GHz
Memory: 4GB DDR2-800 RAM
Hard Disk Drive: 320GB hard drive
Graphics: 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570
Operating system: Microsoft Vista Home Premium 32-bit version.

Design

The F6Ve-B1 has a shiny, gloss black lid. The design is attractive. The palm rest is in dark gray; the rest of the notebook wears black. At 4.39 pounds, this notebook is ultraportable.

Keyboard & Mouse
One very interesting feature of the notebook is its perfumed keyboard. The ‘perfumed’ keyboard is available in two scents – Musky Black and Morning Dew. Turn it on and it will wrap your workstation in a soothingly calm scent. That said, the keyboard itself isn’t very good. It shows visible signs of flex under typing pressure. The mouse isn’t very impressive either. Buttons are stiff and the scrollpad sensitivity isn’t very good.

Display Quality
The biggest strength of this notebook is its 13.3 inch display. Colors are sharp and vibrant. Viewing angles are also good.

Connectivity
Port selection is satisfactory. There are 3 USB ports, Wi-Fi, e-SATA, Express card, 8-in-1card reader, HDMI, RJ-45, VGA ports, modem, DVD-RW drive, headphone, microphone jacks and Kensington lock. The notebook supports both Bluetooth 2.1 and Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 5100 ABGN. So getting connected to your network wouldn’t be a problem at all. There is a standard 1.3MP webcam. There is also a fingerprint reader.

Another cool feature is the Express Gate application suite. There is a dedicated button to activate this feature. Press that button and it will boot the laptop directly into the Express Gate menu which allows you access to basic features like photo gallery, games, instant messaging and a web browser.

Battery performance
3-cell, 6-cell and 9-cell battery configurations are available. With the 3-cell battery you can’t get more than 2 and half hours of battery life.

Heat and Noise
The notebook is pretty noiseless. Heat levels are within normal limits.

Performance
The performance levels are on a par with the decent hardware specifications of this notebook. Boot times are fast. As we said earlier, the display is the best thing about this notebook. Video looks are remarkably good. This isn’t quite the best gaming laptop out there, but the ATI graphics card is capable of handling most modern games.

Overall, this is a nice notebook that delivers competent performance at an attractive price of $1199.

Pros
Great display
Fast performance
Great design

Cons
Poor trackpad/buttons
Poor battery life
Average keyboard

Searching for a transportable office Laptop? If the EEE-PC and comparable laptops arent idyllic, for the reason that their recital does not please your requirements, the Mac Book Air by Apple and the X300 by Lenovo are merely too luxurious, and 15.4 inch middle class laptop not handy enough, its about time to mull over a laptop with portable 14.1 inch screen.

Design
The 14.1 inch Znote 3414W produced by Zepto Carries the dimensions of 33.7 cm x 24.4 cm x 4.3 cm large and therewith about 8 to 10 percent lesser than wide-spread 15.4 inch laptops. Weighing 2.5 kilograms in whole, it is still practical, although other laptops of the similar size, e.g., the Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile M9400 and the Samsung X22-Pro, which weigh at about 2.2. Kilograms are still lighter and peak concerning on weight.

Performance
The evaluated Znote 3414W was prepared with an Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile processor T7250. The T7250 is similar to the T7300 planted with a highest clock rate of 2.0 GHz. But, the economical T7250 is only powered with 2 as an alternative of 4 MB 2nd-level cache (L2). In practice the presentation dissimilarity is that negligible that the consumer will barely be familiar with any. Two DDRII-667 RAM units of 1.024MB capability each provide a total RAM capability of 2 GB. In addition, the customer is free to decide supplementary parts at arrangement time.

The screen of the reviewed laptop is a 14.1 inch sparkly WXGA wide display.
The Znote 3414W by Zepto is equipped with a shade of matte black keyboard with 87 keys. The maximum volume of the incorporated speakers is not elevated. In homecoming there are barely any deformations.

The sound level in inoperative mode and with customary office work load is little. We calculated 33.3 dB (A). Also under standard load the noise level is only 38.2 dB (A), which is all right. Idling under Vista, we gauge an power insist of 17.6 up to 27.2 Watt. This is about customary for laptops with this paraphernalia. The power insists is much superior with standard load (50.6 Watt) and as high as 75.6 Watt under full load.
The 6 cells power pack of 53Wh battery has a sprint time of up to 3.5h with the Battery Eater Readers test.

Overall
The Znote 3414W by Zepto is a customary performer. This rock-hard 14.1 inch laptop weighs only at around 2.5 kg, its workmanship is high-quality and its input units are easy to use. When compared to supplementary 14.1 inch laptops its gear is also high-quality. So is the request presentation, whereas the sound emissions are low in office means. To sum up, the Zepto Znote 3414W tariff is good.

HP PAVILION HDX18 REVIEW

HDX family is bigger – HP New launch

HP PAVILION HDX18HP lately unveiled their most recent additions to the "HDX" relatives of laptops with the all innovative Pavilion HDX16 and HDX18 multimedia laptops. These laptops feature huge displays with a 16:9 screen ratio, inspiring speakers with an incorporated subwoofer, and a ground-breaking touch-sensitive media control panel. Our 1st look provides you a model of what you can anticipate from the huge and inspiring HDX18.

Design
The HDX18 shares quite a few design elements with the rest of the efficient HP Pavilion line, but more than dimension and weight disconnect the HDX18 from its less significant siblings. 1st, HP the new-fangled 16:9 ratio flaunt means you have supplementary real-estate for text on websites, for multiple manuscripts on the screen at the same time, or for a more "full-screen" view of HD movies that have been filmed in 16:9 format. The lustrous metallic gray and silver "Imprint" terminate looks implausible.

Performance
The Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 processor in our evaluation unit offered sufficient processing power and never offered any problems when sprinting applications or encoding video and audio files.
Recital with the Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 processor and NVIDIA 9600M-GT graphics accelerator card was outstanding. Bottom line, this appliance is tremendously speedy. You would naturally require purchasing a high-performance gaming laptop to reach these levels of presentation. This fresh HP was completely able to grip any software we experienced, and even put up "sensible" numbers with 3D games that habitually dont perform well on laptops, such as Crysis.

Of course, with a laptop that tips the scales at almost 9 pounds ... this creature better endow with close to the identical presentation you expect from a desktop. Lets obtain a gaze at a few basic benchmarks so you can get an design of how the Pavilion HDX18 heaps up.

WPrime is a program that energies the processor to do recursive arithmetical calculations, this processor benchmark agenda is multi-threaded and can use metalize processor cores at once, it measures the quantity of time to run a set amount of computations. The keyboard on the HDX18 was quite inspiring in that it has completely no flex over the main keyboard. The enthusiastic number pad does experience from some flex unswervingly above the optical drive, but that shouldnt be a predicament for most people except youre continuously using the number pad for data entry.

Overall
While the HDX18 is better ensemble as a desktop substitute than as a notebook, the laptop is quite well poised when using it on your lap. Just be attentive that after using the HDX18 on your lap for about an hour and a half you may start to be unable to find some feeling in your legs. This appliance is really more like an 18-inch HDTV with a built-in computer.

Pros
+ Amazing Performance;
+ Great Graphics

Cons

- Bulky in built.
- Heat Dissipation could have been in a better way.

The company claims that it will offer 5-10 hours of 720p HD video playback.

This is right from the line of intersects to make geometric patterns, which extend from lid to inside the laptop. It’s built ended with 13.4 x 9.7 x 1.2 inches that comes about 5 pounds and moves smoothly into a bag. You will find slight pattern outside and brighter lines inside. This one also handles Gaming with 3.8 Graphics card and a 1.3-megapixel Webcam, a fingerprint reader, a 5-in-1-memory card reader brings comfort for users. The FM radio port here is an interesting touch, many may not use it – although, with the wide rang of available radio stations now appearing online – this seems like a novelty.

Overall
As mentioned earlier backlit keyboard and new simplicity are the highlight of E-105. Overall for the features offered I feel it Toshiba should have used more of its brains, as for this price there are other models that carry similar or better specification. Do a little research and then decide upon.

VISTA CAPABLE LAWSUIT LOSES CLASS ACTION STATUS

This one comes as a bit of a surprise seeing that so many goverments around the world are so interested in suing Microsoft to help pay for their fledging economies.

Anyways Judge Maesha Pechman has stripped the suit against Microsoft of its class action status. Appearnly Microsoft was able to convice that peoples confusion over the stickers meaning didnt "predominate over individual considerations."

This does not mean you cant sue Microsoft over those stickers. It just means that you and a bunch of your Mac buddies cant try and get it class action status.

Were not sure what Microsoft had to pull to get this, but were thinking that they might be doing an out of court settlement and who knows, maybe Judge Maesha got a peek at that new Zune phone Microsoft has been denying in return.

ASUS EEE PC 1002HA REVIEW

Asus Eee PC 1002HA

Asus Eee PC 1002 HAFor the last 3-4 years, buying a laptop computer is not it was before then. It’s no longer a luxury item, a toy for a spoiled grown kid who pretends to need it or just plain overpriced paper weight. I guess the main reason behind that is the fact that laptops are not being produced by a handful of companies anymore and the competition is once again good for the customer (if you’re planning to object this, please keep in mind that even Apple produced the same laptop model for almost 6-7 years with a monstrous price tag with no additions, since there was no one present to threaten it’s throne back then).

Yes, we’re now buying our laptops for prices well below 1000 Dollars a piece, and yet, even that wasn’t enough for Asus when they introduced their first Eee PC. If you ask me (and since you’re reading all these, I assume you do), that was the real revolution needed for the laptop industry to open itself to all consumers.

The first Eee PC was, well let’s be honest, a kind of a joke. Yes, it was revolutionary and all but after all, it was just a modified kiddie laptop. With this new model -1002 HA-, it seems like Asus finally perfected it’s star child. With the first glance, you understand that you’re in the presence of a true laptop. It’s no longer bad resolution, extremely low hard drive space and a cramped keyboard (well, the keyboard is much less the same actually) but a proper computer to do your every daily task.

Let’s start with ergonomics, since it’s the main issue along with economics, when we choose a laptop within this segment. The 1002HA is a bit thicker than it’s predecessor but thanks to it’s new screen arrangement, it’s smaller for other dimentions. Don’t let this last sentence fool you, since it keeps the same screen size but with much better quality. The new product is also 11 ounces lighter than it’s predecessor (now 42 ounces total) which is about the weight of a can of soda, which may seem little at first, but let’s keep in mind that this is a 20% weight loss (if you’re a 200lbs guy like me, that means loosing 40 pounds, which is kinda big thing and would make my mom so happy!). As you can guess, this is a great thing for an ultra portable like this, which also means that now it weights about the same with it’s predecessor even when you add it’s charger brick to the equation.

Just like Acer’s rivaling model –Aspire One- , Eee PC 1002HA also has one of Intel’s latest CPU’s, the Atom. As a matter of fact this is the same processor that was used on it’s predecessor too (Eee PC 1000H). With 1.6 GHz clock speed, this processor is sufficient enough to run it’s Windows XP and other programs smoothly. Another good thing about this CPU is that it really uses very small amount of energy –thanks to it’s hafnium-infused circuitry.
The computer comes with 1 GB of RAM, which is about enough for it’s purpose but then again it’s really not a wonder either. The PC2-3200 (DDR2-400) RAM is easy to find and cheap, so if you’re thinking about upgrade, it’s not that much of a problem.

Hard drive space is really impressive for a computer this size -160GB’s. When you consider even the long waited 17” MacBook Pro (which costs 2700-4500 Dollars according to upgrades you choose) comes with 320GB’s of hard drive (which is a shame!), so this little guy is doing pretty good for it’s size.

The best improvement with this computer is –from my point of view- it’s screen. The screen provides a really good image for it’s size (and price), with 1024x600 resolution. This resolution means two very important things ; first it’s a proper 1024 pixel wide screen, which is kinda industry standard for webpages these days and that means you don’t have to scroll from left to right and right to left constantly like you’ve did before with it’s 800 pixel (or less) wide predecessors, secondly even when you watch a movie with 5:4 aspect ratio, you’ll still be able to see it with 800x600 resolution (instead of 468 pixel or so height of old models). Let me repeat again, it’s a 10” diagonal WVGA screen with good quality – a thing you’d pay 3500 Dollars or more just 2 years ago!

As I’ve mentioned earlier, although this Eee PC shares basically the same inner structure with it’s predecessor, it’s measurements are way better. It’s 10.47" x 7.53" x 1.12" ~ 1.50" dimensions are really compact and when it’s closed, it’s sleek structure is also a treat to the eye too. If you ask me, go for the brushed aluminized look in black.

Since this laptop has no CD or DVD (and yes, you’ve guessed it right BluRay as well!) drive, it covers this fault by offering alternate solutions. The first and probably the most useful one is –surely- the card reader. When you consider that most of the cards today have more capacity than CD’s and DVD’s , the value of this reader can be understood better. As you can guess a RJ-45 Ethernet 10/100 Lan port also exists, but the thing that fascinated me was that this little fella has wireless b/g and n support (yes, it supports n, which is still not common on many laptops). When you have this kind of connection options, the 1.3 MP webcam is a very good thing to have, since this laptop was literally made for visual conference on the go. Last but not least it has 3 USB 2.0 ports and a VGA output.

When we come to the soundcard and the graphics card, well, I don’t say much. I’m really tired to make comments about onboard cards (well actually, they’re not that varied as well, 2 or 3 model for each laptop motherboard manufacturer, which equals less than 10 in total). Soundcard is enough to watch movies or listen to MP-3’s, as long as you use a headset. For the graphics card same logic goes as well, after all, since the screen has 1024x600 resolution it’s obvious that you’ll not be playing any games, but when it comes to office usage or web browsing it works well. It even allows you to watch movies!

Eee PC 1002HA comes with a 6 cell battery, which powers the computer for about 5 hours, which is less than Acer’s Aspire One. To be perfectly honest with you, 5-6 hours seemed a lot until 48 hours ago when I haven’t seen the battery life of the new 17” MacBook Pro. Apple managed to support a 17” laptop with a monster of a graphics card to run for 8 hours, so when you think of it, much less resolution (1920x1200 on MB Pro, 1024x600 on Eee PC 1002HA) and size (17” on MB Pro, 10” on Eee PC 1002HA) with only 5 hours is no longer impressive. With the same logic, we can expect to see 24 hour battery lives on these little guys real soon, so it’s up to you.

CONCLUSION
Asus Eee PC 1002HA is a real proper laptop. It may be a bit more expensive than it’s main rival Aspire One along with shorter battery life, but then again the general appeal and ergonomics are better. It’s price is no longer cheap for what it offers but it can’t be described as expensive either. The lack of DVD player is important but not a fatal problem. This is the perfect netbook for everyone, especially if your main concern is portability.

Pros
+ Really chick
+ Solid construction
+ The connectivity options are great
+ Has 802.11 n
+ 160 GB hard drive space
+ If you don’t count the Aspire One, a real bargain as an ultra portable

Cons
- Cramped keyboard
- No CD/DVD drive
- The battery life is long but not as impressive as it used to be anymore
- About the same price of a decent 15.4”

SAMSUNG Q45 REVIEW

Samsung Q45 – A perfect combo from the old chassis

Once upon a time really transportable notebooks were great things of lavishness, but that state of affairs seems a far-away memory these days. Where once people marveled at the £2,000 and wafer slim Sony VAIO VGN-X505VP, we now encompass an enormous range of both classy and reasonably priced portable laptops to choose from.

Design
Of course, the Samsung Q45 isnt a new-fangled representation by any means and it was even tried out back in June last year; on the other hand, a few things have distorted since then. It can now be established in a new-fangled and cheaper £570 arrangement, while theres an enormous deal of additional competition out there from the likes of the Dell XPS M1330 and the Toshiba Satellite U300. Both are somewhat bigger 13.3in laptops, but with mutually weighing in at 2kg or beneath, they offer dedicated opposition.

Performance
Directing procedures is an Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 tickled at 1.66GHz, with 2MB L2 Cache and a 667MHz Front Side Bus. Sustained by 2GB of 667MHz DRR2 and Intel GMA X3100 incorporated graphics this Q45 is no velocity demon but it is extremely frugal, running just over 4 hours in the Mobile Mark 2007 efficiency test and practically 5 in the lower power Reader test. With wireless facilitated you can almost certainly be expecting between 3 and 4 hours and nonetheless our customary DVD playback test didnt total, you should be capable to look at a film of around 2 hours with a few power to standby.

As for unrefined performance, to employ a cricketing analogy - hey its just about cricketing summer - its more Paul Collingwood than Andrew Flintoff, by no means explosive but always dependable and not one to twirl up drunk and floundering in shallow water.
In this courage of rock-hard reliability this Q45 has the whole lot you actually require, without gifting anything exceptional. A 250GB 5400rpm SATA HDD is sufficient, while Intel 802.11b/g wireless, 10/100 Ethernet and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR spells youll never be wanting for network or wireless access. Similarly, connectivity is restricted but missing nothing indispensable, with D-SUB (VGA) for a peripheral monitor, audio inputs and outputs, a memory card reader and FireWire. Theres in addition a 1.3 Mega pixel webcam; forever a welcome addition.

Overall
Regardless of the somewhat ageing framework the Samsung Q45 is still an excellent transportable notebook at the price, particularly for the student. Battery presentation is very imposing and though you wont be throwing games or concentrated processing tasks at it, itll embark upon most characteristic computing activities contentedly. Thus, if you desire portability at the accurate cost and an Asus EEE PC 900 doesnt offer the presentation you require, this is still appeal solemn deliberation.

Pros
+ Civilized performer with negligible of hardware’s
+ Imposing battery life

Cons
- Bit pricey for the combination

HP PAVILION TX2500 REVIEW

HP Pavilion tx2500 – A worthy update courtesy AMD Puma

The HP Pavilion tx2500 is the much required modernize to the tx2000 Tablet PC. Thats right; the tx2500 has an efficient processor and graphics. HP to end with have answered our prayers and supplemented the new-fangled AMD Puma processor and ATI Radeon HD 3200 incorporated graphics into the identical great design. So lets see how much enhanced it performs.

Design
The tx2500 has a rock-hard framework and intend. The overall intend is the identical as the tx2000, with the lustrous "Echo" imprint finish which extends onto the silver keyboard. It has an extremely sleek exterior, but be cautious it is a fingerprint enticer. Weighing in around 4.5 pounds the tx2500 is ideal for students. It gets a bit heavy to clutch around in tablet mode all day, but its enormous for sitting on your desk and captivating notes and you can always surrogate in the weight saver if you dont necessitate the optical drive.

Performance
The tx2500 captures the new-fangled AMD "Puma" display place which contains mutually the modernized Turion X2 Ultra dual-core processor and the all fresh ATI Radeon HD 3200 incorporated graphics processor (IGP). The Radeon HD 3200 is a significant IGP for the reason that it is the 1st incorporated graphics elucidation that is authentically competent of playing 1080p video without skipping frames or playing many 3D video games with rational frame rates. While most tablets with incorporated graphics manufacture a 3DMark05 score of less than 1,000 the HD 3200 IGP is hypothetically capable of 2 or 3 times that level of presentation.

There is plethora of multimedia buttons for watching DVDs, listening to music or screening your photos. There is even a non-compulsory Web cam, which makes this tablet grand for chatting with friends over the Web, particularly with the efficiency that comes pimped in with the new-fangled Puma processor. It converts into tablet mode with effortlessness and when in tablet mode the speakers are still easy to get to, a definite additional benefit

Overall
Overall I am overwhelmed with the tx2500. The efficient AMD Puma processor and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics are a huge plus. Web pages deliver quicker and surfing the Web is a puff of air. Even though our tx2500 had a few issues with the incorporated graphics it still performed enhanced than the majority of tablets on the market now and we are conveying it back to HP to fasten it. College students and supplementary consumers should be pleased with all the features the tx2500 packs, particularly considering it exists for under $1,000.

Pros
+ Reasonably priced
+ Touch screen and vigorous digitizer
+ Amusement features
+ Rock-hard design
+ Enhanced GPU

Cons
- High heat production when system is stressed out
